I specialize in putting ducks and geese paddles down just feet in front of you.  All hunts for ducks and geese will be over spreads of custom decoys and comfortable Avery blinds.  The Upper Peninsula is not known for its great waterfowl abundance but it is greatly underestimated for its Canada goose and diving duck hunting.  Give it a try and I'm sure you will be hooked.

 

Over the years I've had the chance to hunt just about everything the U.P. has to offer and can provide guided trips for almost all of those species.  I've guided for everything from black bear to woodcock and have the ability to provide quality adventures on all.  One of the biggest things that separates me from other guides is that I spend countless hours scouting.  When I'm scouting for geese I'm paying attention to which field the deer are using and where the bear have been feeding and where the grouse are covey-ed up at. 

 

Canada Goose Hunts will take place out of layout blinds or pit blinds I have strategically placed in ideal location in farm fields.  Occasionally we hunt loafing sand bars of flooded areas over water but it is rare.  Decoy spreads consist of full body decoys and are typically quite large, 5-14 dozen is what we typically hunt over.

 

The majority of the duck hunts happen hunting over water.  Occasionally I will find a field holding enough mallards, black ducks, and wood ducks for a good shoot but it is mainly hunting water.  We target mainly divers with bluebills, ringnecks, buffleheads, and common goldeneye rounding out the majority of the bag.  We hunt alot of exposed sand bars out of layout blinds with spreads of decoys ranging from 3 to 12 dozen decoys at a time.  I have an 18 foot tender boat that comfortably hauls the gear and hunters to the hunting location.

 

I have bear baits that I bait daily.  Starting as soon as Michigan allows I start my baits and keep them going until the last day of season.  The baits are in ideal locations and get visited everyday by black bear.  Most hunts will take place out of ground blinds, typically 25 to 40 yards from the bait station.  I can accommodate archery hunters as well.  I will walking you into the stand as well as walk in to get you after dark to not alert the bear of your presence in the blind.  Call for available dates, I only book 4 bear hunters a year to insure the best possible success and maintain quality bear on the land I hunt.

 

Its hard to beat a day spent walking the Upper Peninsula woods looking for ruffed grouse and woodcock.  The smell of the woods in fall, the color of the changing leaves, and watching a good dog quarter in front of you all adds to the experience.  If you have your own dogs you would prefer to work they are more than welcome or if you don't your own dogs I accommodate you there.  Typically we will walk old logging roads so the terrain isn't too bad but we will cover quite a bit of ground cross county also.  Ruffed Grouse cycles are near the peak so now is the time to get out and chase them.
